unity of dayton minister's message september 2015Greetings Friends,

Summer is winding down and we are entering a season of change.

Are you ready?

At the end of this month, we’ll have special guests, Grammy nominated singer/songwriter, Karen Taylor Good and Stowe Dailey, here for an amazing Saturday night concert, Sunday service, and Sunday afternoon workshop. This musical team, StoweGood, is funny, authentic, heartwarming, and they make amazing music together! Please come out and support Karen and Stowe as they share their awesome gifts.
Last month I reported to you that we had some major leaks in our building following a rainstorm. Your Board of Trustees is exploring options for your consideration at our next Town Hall Meeting, which is Sunday, September 13th.
Some of you may be familiar with the television show, “Love It or List It.” Homeowners who need change in their living space, but don’t agree on whether to remodel or sell, are asked what they changes they would need to see in order to love their current home. At the same time, they see new homes that already have everything on their “wish list” and consider the option of buying a new home.
We’re looking at Unity of Dayton’s building in this same way. What would it take for us to love it? Replace the roof? Seal the building’s exterior walls? Replace the crumbling front entrance? Paint and remodel the inside? Add on to the building so we have more space? How much are we willing to invest to “love it?” We now have some roofing estimates and other information that we will share at the Town Hall Meeting.
We know that with God all things are possible. So, whether we decide to love it or list it, there’s minimum amount of work to be done so the building is sound. How much are we willing to invest in this property? You can help shape Unity of Dayton’s future by contributing to the proposal that will be put before the church membership for a vote. I hope you’ll come to the Town Hall Meeting and be a part of this important conversation.
Yes, the season is changing. And Unity of Dayton is also getting ready for change… change that’s for good! If you haven’t been to Unity lately, now is a great time to come back. We’re right here, holding sacred space. And now, we’re ready to spring forth with a mighty faith to do all that is ours to do.
God bless you!
In loving service,
Rev. Cindy
