unnamedGreetings Friends,

As I write this, I’m reading an affirmation from the Daily Word, “I open my heart wide to serve all humankind.” At Unity of Dayton, February is “Love in Action” month. We pause to express our appreciation of all who serve in this spiritual community. At the end of this month, we’ll have a special “Love in Action” event for those of you who might want to continue your spiritual awakening through the path of sacred service. Whether you’re a “one and done” person who likes to help with one event, or someone who enjoys continuity and being part of an ongoing team, we have opportunities for you to share your gifts and become a greater presence in our community. Thank you for opening your heart wide to service at Unity!

One way you can serve and have fun at the same time is to sign up and enter our Unity Talent Show. If you sing, dance, tell jokes, play an instrument, share a story, or have some other gift you’d like to share, see Tony on Sunday. The rehearsal is on the 12th and the show is on the 19th. Be sure to invite your family and friends. Whether you’re in the show or in the audience, it’s great fun. I’ll see you there!

We have several activities happening that will add to our “Raise the Roof” fundraising. January 31st was the Chili Cook-off and Olivia, a first time entrant, was the winner. Congratulations Olivia! Proceeds from the Cook-off are going toward our new roof, as are the proceeds from the Valentine’s Day Bake Sale. We’re also gathering items for our Silent Auction, so please call the church office if you have a treasure you’d like to donate, or if you want more information about any of these activities. As of January 31, you have donated $11,271 toward the new roof. We’re getting closer! Thank you!

In other news, many of you have shared that you are being blessed by our current lesson series based on Catherine Ponder’s book, “The Dynamic Laws of Healing.” As we’re deepening our spiritual understanding, we’re learning that Divine Love can heal anything that needs to be healed. We are in the planning stages of a Saturday Healing Retreat on March 19th at Unity, so mark your calendars and stay tuned for more information.

I hope you’re planning to attend our Annual Meeting on Sunday, March 6, 2016 after the 11 a.m. service. I’m very pleased to announce our five candidates for five open positions on the Board of Trustees. Our nominees for the 2016 Board are: Dora Lawson, Cindy Laird, and Ann Cruikshank, who were appointed by the Board to complete unexpected vacancies. Ron Patterson and Dan Studebaker are running for full three year terms on the Board. All are welcome to attend the meeting, but you must be an active member of Unity of Dayton in order to vote on agenda issues and the Board member election. The meeting will be brief and informative. I hope you’ll stay and add your spiritual wisdom to our meeting.

I’m honored to serve as your Senior Minister, and I’d like for you to remember that we are ALL ministers in our unique own ways. Thank you for your ongoing love and support.

In loving service,

Rev. Cindy
