As with God, So with Us – Sept. 24, 2017

According to Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity, “The creative processes of Divine Mind are continuously operative; creation is going on all the time.” As with God, so it is with us. You have the creative power of Mind—Idea—Expression. It’s in Divine Order!

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” ~ Matthew 22:37

Affirmation: The presence of God-Mind is in my own mind.

Change – Inside Out or Upside Down? – Sept. 17, 2017

Mountain climbers who ascend too quickly may experience altitude sickness. The body needs time to adjust to the new environment. Likewise, truth seekers may experience attitude sickness. When we make big life changes before our attitudes and beliefs have changed, it may feel like life has turned upside down!

“Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray.” ~ Luke 9:28

Affirmation: I am willing to be transformed at depth.

Why Do We Pray? – Sept. 10, 2017

Unity’s 24th World Day of Prayer is Thursday, September 14th. In Unity churches and spiritual centers all over the world, people will gather with renewed spiritual energy to Pray Peace … Be Peace … Do Peace. Some people have lost faith that prayer can bring about world peace, and yet, we know intuitively that prayer makes a difference. When it comes right down to it, why do we pray?

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord of hosts.” ~ Zechariah 4:6

Affirmation: I am peace in the midst of all matters!

September 2017 Minister’s Message

Dear Friends of Unity of Dayton,

School has started for many families and individuals. Unity of Dayton will resume Youth Ministry classes Sunday Sept. 17, 2017. Our Youth and Family ministry will have a positive impact on youth and their families. Invite others into our loving community. We teach universal Truth, practice spiritual principles and live life abundantly.  Here is how our Youth and Family Ministry will do this.

The Uniteens and Y.O.U.ers  (middle school and high school age group) will embark on a wonderful adventure studying and learning the principles taught in the book, The I of the Storm for Teens: Finding Peace in the Midst of Conflict written by Jane Simmons. The spiritual principles explored are invaluable to youth in the day to day stress of their world.  We are excited to be offering this transformative experience. Uniteens and Y.O.U.ers will learn the techniques to create peace and make a difference.

The pre-school and elementary class will explore the powerful beings they are through the What a Wonderful World curriculum. Themes include their unique gifts, God’s love is everywhere, what I think creates my world, God expresses through me, oneness and more. Each lesson is presented in a manner to draw out the wisdom they already possess, rather than to stuff them with beliefs and facts. Our cherished children will blossom and grow, nourished by love.

This school year the Unity of Dayton community at large will be spreading love, while stopping weekend hunger for children at Wright Brothers Elementary in Huber Heights. We have joined with other organizations to meet the basic need for food by providing weekend care bags known as ‘Love in a Bag’. We purchase supplies and pack bags that are distributed every Friday during the school year.

You are God’s unique gift to the world. You have unique gifts to give. To engage in and/or support our Youth and Family Ministry or Community Outreach Ministry please  contact  me

Charles Fillmore wrote, “We may receive spiritual inspiration from within. By prayer and meditation on words of Truth in the silence we may so open our consciousness to the divine inner presence that the necessary understanding, love, and power may be given us to enable us to bring forth in our own lives the good results that we wish to see manifest.”   We have within us infinite wisdom and deep peace. Prayer and meditation are the keys that unlock the door to peace in the midst.  During your prayer time, hold the High Watch for people who are moving through times of struggle.  See the Truth of each individual expression of God, each spiritual being moving through a human experience.  Know with them and for them that there is more going on in any moment than we are capable of seeing or understanding.  God is everywhere present, all knowing, all powerful, and all loving.
As we watch daily media reports of people struggling to survive in unimaginable living conditions, fleeing violence, and being affected by natural disasters, it is easy to get caught up in the energy of wanting to fix the world around us.  If you find yourself asking, “What is mine to do?”  Consider this. Whatever else is yours to do, your role begins with taking time to connect with the peace that passes all understanding – to be the peace you would like to see in the world. Albert Einstein said, “I think 99 times and find nothing. I stop thinking, swim in silence, and the truth comes to me.” Here are some things you can do. Maintain a prayer and meditation practice. Be present at 11am on Sunday, September 10 to welcome Rev. Cindy back from her Sabbatical and to hear her speak about the role of prayer in our lives. Attend our World Day of Prayer service on Wednesday evening, September 13 at 7pm.  Visit the church on Thursday, September 14 between 10 – 2 for silent prayer and viewing videos of WDOP services from Unity Village.  Join us for our Wednesday evening meditation service on September 27 at 7pm.  You are and are called to be peace in the midst of all matters.

How to Win When First is Last – August 13, 2017

with Rev. Chase

Jesus’s story of the laborers in the vineyard challenges our sense of fairness. The first were last. The story also tells of God’s compassion and generosity. We learn the ways of the kingdom of heaven.

“So the last will be first, and the first will be last.” – Matthew 20:16

Affirmation: I release preconceived notions and open my mind to the new order of life.

August 2017 Minister’s Message

Dear Friend of Unity of Dayton,

When I think of August, I think of vacation – a time to explore area parks and rivers or to sit on the deck and watch the squirrels and birds. A different approach to taking time away is meditation. Today is as good a time as any to begin this daily practice that will lift your spirits, clear your mind, and energize your body. Find a quiet time and place where you can relax your body and your mind. Quiet your mind through listening to your breath. Choose a Divine Idea, such as Love, Peace, Joy, Strength, Compassion, and focus only on that idea. Then go within – invite your mind to rest, allow your body to become more peaceful, and let your soul reconnect with Source. Myrtle Fillmore writes, “…turn [your] attention to God, the indwelling Lord, with the happy assurance that all old, disappointing things are dropping away and the healing, peace-giving, joy-filling, prospering ideas of God’s love, life, and substance are filling the mind and heart, quickening, new energies in the body.”  As you spend time in the Silence, you create the space to feel God’s peace and love. Getting away from the busyness of daily routines renews the body, mind, and soul. You will find that there is nothing more fulfilling or satisfying than reconnecting with the Presence of God.  Peace,

Rev. Sue

Dreams, Goals and Visions: Making Life “Gooder” – July 30, 2017

Special Guest: Rev. George Whitton

All of us would like to live a life of joy, peace, happiness and self-satisfaction. Why is it that we don’t always create it? In fact, we often find ourselves in life experiences that are just the opposite of what we say we want. These unwanted experiences sap our spirit, drain our joy, and dampen our happiness. This week, we’ll explore ways to create a life of joy and fulfillment even when the challenges of life weigh in on us.

Proverbs 29:18: Where there is no vision, the people perish.

Affirmation: In joy, I experience all that life has to offer.
