On Palm Sunday, the Sunday before we celebrate Easter, Jesus rode to Jerusalem on a donkey. Metaphysically the donkey represents our lower nature, while our destination is symbolized by Jerusalem, the abiding consciousness of spiritual peace. From Scripture it’s clear that the donkey carried Jesus to Jerusalem. In our lives today, we each get to ask ourselves, “Who is carrying whom?”

Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it; as it is written: “Do not be afraid, daughter of Zion. Look, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt!” –John 12:14-15

Affirmation: The Sprit that dwelled in Jesus dwells in me—and I am lifted up.
