Greetings Friends,

a9f84acf-2451-46c1-bbee-81ca02d83b17Have you ever heard the expression, “When you least expect it, expect it?” We go along with the expectation that life will be the same day after day. There’s a certain sense of security in thinking of life as stable and predictable. And yet, some of our greatest joys result from the twists and turns in this journey we call life.

As some of you know, this year, when I least expected it, the path of my life began to twist and turn in a way that hasn’t been fun, to say the least. In April, I began experiencing severe abdominal pain within an hour or so after a meal. A couple of months later and a few pounds lighter, I learned that I now have a severe gluten intolerance and can no longer eat or drink anything containing wheat, barley, or rye. When you start reading labels, you find out that wheat is in almost all processed foods!

While I’m very grateful to know it isn’t something life threatening, I am missing my favorite foods and the ability to eat in all but a few restaurants. The good news is, my body has begun to heal and I’m feeling stronger now. The Unity teachings and affirmative prayer support have sustained me through this. I continue to affirm, “My body is the whole and perfect, constantly renewing Substance of God.’ Thank you for your understanding, love, and prayers as I take time to rest and return to wholeness.

By the way, Nancy and Ron Brown called the other day. Nancy is also in a healing process and is feeling much better. For all those in our community who are healing in mind and body, keep the prayer support coming! If you are having a health challenge, or would like prayer support for some other concern, please let us know. Rev. Sue is our Associate Minister for Pastoral Care and she is available for one on one support with prayer or spiritual counseling.

Upcoming events at Unity this month include the Keys to the Kingdom class beginning tomorrow evening at 7 pm, Hospitality Sunday on August 7, the Healing Drumming Circle on August 20th at 4 pm (you don’t need to know how to drum, or even have a hand drum, we have some to share), and the Bits and Bytes Orientation on Sunday, August 21 at 12:30 after the service. If you’ve ever considered membership in Unity of Dayton, or just wanted to know more about our history or teachings, stay for a bit of a snack and a few bytes of information!

You’ll also want to know that Joy Davis is working with the Music Team to brew up another steaming hot Coffee House Concert on Friday evening, August 26th. Bring your friends and get ready for some great music! Look for more information in our Sunday bulletin.

Thank you for all of your love and support. We come together in spiritual community to share our hearts and lives on the spiritual journey we call life. As you are a blessing, so may you be blessed!

In loving service,

Rev. Cindy
